As it is that time of the year again for us Muslims, I decided to get myself dressed up for work every day. The reason behind this it takes my mind on off of fasting ( the act of not eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset. ) and focuses more on styling and creativity.

This gave me a chance to fully express myself in the best way possible and try so many color combinations.

Dear Azza,

Dear Azza, 

Your journey to happiness is a beautiful thing full of trials and tribulations. 

But there are a few things I want you to remember;

You have a smile that can fill up the sky.

Keep it and embrace it. 

The people around you will either take it for granted or uplift you. 

You just have to trust your gut and have faith in finding the right people to share it with.

Dream big and go for it.

You have such a beautiful gift of creativity and you need to share with the world.

Some people may not understand it or see it, but this just means you have to work 10x times harder to make them see it.

Just don't give up and if you have an idea in mind, go for it and don't look back.

Never forget where you come from.

There may be times when you are scared to share where your origins are or the type of religion you uphold. 

Don't shy away from it. Celebrate it and educate the people around you. 

Your parents and the family around you will always continue to share stories and you have to weed out the right ones that will motivate you.

You are a social bumblebee.

A delicate, creative bee,  who able to fly from hive to hive, discovering new people in new spaces around the world.

Each person, who you have connected with has a purpose. Good or bad.

Some will stay for a season.

Some will stay for a lifetime. 

But you must remember, the ones you have kept close to heart will always be there for you.

Become Fearless

Be fearless with confronting what terrifies you the most.

Be fearless with accepting change and moving on.

Be fearless with putting yourself first.

Be fearless and unapologetic with your identity. 

Be fearless with asking for help and accepting criticisms. 

I know this a lot to remember, but as long as you surround yourself with family and friends, who will help guide you to the right path, you will become the strong, gifted, beautiful woman that I know you can be.

Muslim Girl Guide Books

Ramadan Kareem! 

Yes! It is that time of the year again, where we are fasting which includes not eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset. But most importantly we are spending time doing more good deeds and praying to create a better relationship with Allah.

Having said that, it's not easy to think about eating and drinking. You have to allow your mindset to develop self-control and say no to certain things and distract yourself. Whether that's working a 9-5pm job or even reading a book or two.

People of the revolution

They have been silenced

They are tired.

They have spoken.

They are the people of the revolution.

They fought for years and years. 

( 30 years to be exact) 

and now through peaceful protesting, they are getting the recognition they deserve.

These are just a few words that come to mind when I think about a place called Sudan. I am not talking about whether its north or south. I am talking about a place, which was the biggest county in Africa. A place full of friendly people, fueled by traditions passed down from generation to generation, who are freedom fighters ready to rewrite their history.

Yet one of the sad things about this they are a conflicted country.
Are they considered as African or are they considered as Arabs?
Does the color of their skin reflect the many different tribes and make us African enough for the continent? or does the religion that they were brought up by make them Arab enough for the Islamic world?

How can they fight for their country, when they are left conflicted by two sides?
Identity and Religion.

For years, this great nation has fought hard against corrupt dictators such as Omar Al Bashir.  

The people of the revolution have had enough. They took it upon themselves from last year (December 2018) to start peaceful protests all over the country to fight for the cost of living. Things such as money, food, and health care are just the basics to survive and they were deprived of this thanks to its greedy dictators, who are now stripped of their power and punished for their crimes.

Fast forward until the present and the people are still standing at the gates of freedom, demanding what is theirs, which is a government that they can trust and run this country in the right way. They will not step down or leave until this happens.

These are the people of the revolution.

They are Freedom Fighters.

They are Peaceful Protesters

They are Revolutionaries.

They are Powerful.

They have Spoken.
