Day Of The Dead

Thursday, 31 October 2019

As Halloween is slowly approaching, everyone is trying to decide on who they want to be.  It can be anyone from a mad scientist to a vampire. But there is a story and a reason why they have been chosen.

This year I have gone down a different route and decided to dress up as someone from the  Day Of The Dead. ("Dia De Los Muertos" in Spanish) This specific day is something in Mexican and Spanish cultures celebrates and honors our ancestors. Without their sacrifices and life choices, we wouldn't be who we are today.

Although I come from a different religion and background, I admire the message behind this holiday.

It represents togetherness, happiness, and love for the ones that are no longer with us.

So here are my looks inspired by this special day;

Thursday, 3 October 2019

After 4years, I am so excited to share this moment with all of you.

I have been writing a poetry book full of my life experiences and I am so happy to say it's finally done and ready for you to read.

I have had so much fun developing this book from start to finish and the fact that I am self-publishing it, makes me feel truly invincible.

In the words of Maya Angelou;

"Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it..."

So without further ado, She Speaks is now available on Blurb! Link bellow.

Treat Yourself

Friday, 27 September 2019

Why treat yourself?

I feel that every once in a while when you have worked and you need a break, treat yourself.

It can be something as small as having an in-home spa day of putting on a face mask and watching your favorite movie to uplift you, splurging out on a new piece of clothing or jewelry that you have once desired or even going to a new restaurant/cafe and stepping out of your comfort zone to experience new flavors that you would have never tried before.

If you don't celebrate yourself now, when will you be able to live life and fully enjoying it?

So with that being said, my birthday is only a few days away and I decided to treat myself to something special every day just to perk myself up and to celebrate my successes from the crazy year I've had, which started today with being pampered by Clifton Photographic Company

I applied for one of their deals about a month ago without any intention of getting called back, but to my surprise, they did and I decided with my book release, why not treat myself to a pampering session and photoshoot with them the week before my birthday?

So I set a theme of paying a tribute to some of my favorite females;

With my vision in mind, I arrived at the studio and I was treated like a queen. By that I mean they prepared me for the day and offered me tea/coffee/water..etc and then escorted me to my own personal hair and makeup stylist; Katrina Tuktareva, who did an amazing job of doing my make up for the day. To the point, where I didn't recognize myself.

Once that was completed, I have then whisked away to the photography studio, where Lenka Mikulova did a phenomenal job of capturing the right images based off my vision boards.

Here is a sneak peak of the complimentary image I received;

Self Love Trip

Friday, 30 August 2019

As we step into the last few months of 2019, this is when we need to sit down and reflect on how far we have come and look at what we need to do to finish with a bang.

For me, I've had a few bumps in the road with juggling work, health, religion, family and my social life and it wasn't easy. I had to take steps back in order to move forward, whether that be confronting my past mistakes in order to be happy mentally, press pause on certain situations and just say "NO" to opportunities that were not worth pursuing.
 I even had to transfer to a smaller store from working in a flagship store just to stay on top of the day to day operations. This did, in fact, cause me stress, which took a giant toll on my body and slowed me down and allowed me to fully focus on myself for the time being.

It's been a crazy journey being in a new city and managing all of these situations.
But what would life be without these difficult times allowing me to become a stronger person?

However, we also need to spend time to treat ourselves and just focus on us.
Celebrate us.
Heal Us.
Embrace us.
Love Us.

So for the previous bank holiday weekend, I decided to take a short trip to Marbella/Malaga to visit my family out there, as well have some quiet time for myself.

I have no regrets with this decision, as most of my friends and people I know were in London for the Nottinghill Carnival and since I've already experienced this before, I thought of having a "Self Love" Trip.  So nothing but me and my creative thoughts and having some self-reflection on what I would like to do next in life and how can I change to become a better person.
