There are so many purposes why we do this for example;
- This is the time where muslims can pray and get closer to Allah and build a stronger relationship with him.
- To develop strength and self control. By that I mean, to be able to fast during the long summer time hours requires a lot of strength because you are constantly distracted by food places; restaurants, shops, supermarkets..etc
- Being able to fast allows you to become grateful for what you have and help those less fortunate and experience see what they go through daily.
- It brings all muslims and families together to break their fast in one place. this is called Iftar.
(more reasons are on this link : http://thoughtcatalog.com/rania-naim/2016/06/10-things-you-need-to-know-about-ramadan-other-than-fasting/)
I am blessed that I have been able to visit Saudi Arabia in Ramadan back in 2012.
These links are from my blog entries at that time;

Daily Tasks
One thing I do every ramadan is making Samosas. This is something we eat at the beginning of Iftar with soup and dates.
Although, each family has their own way of doing it, this video is a tutorial of how our family makes it.
